RICE KRISPIE SQUARES

My good friend, Fred, an early casualty of the AIDS epidemic, served these tasty bar snacks with drinks before one of his infrequent dinner parties and the guests devoured them all, almost without stopping. They are so very good, and so very reminiscent of that seemingly more  innocent time in our past when we had no cares and our mothers took care of everything. Thanks, Fred, for reminding us of that time, and of you.

RICE KRISPIE SQUARES

2 sticks butter or margarine, at room temperature
1/2 lb sharp Cheddar cheese, grated (you can buy this already grated at your grocery store)
1 C Rice Krispies
2 C all purpose flour
1/4 t salt
dash of cayenne (red pepper)

1. Mix butter and cheese together. Add flour, salt and pepper, then Rice Krispies.

2. Pour into greased baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Cool and cut into squares, or bars.
