CURRIED CHEESE SPREAD

After I had lived in my first house on Bolton Hill for a while, and the neighbors in my new development had begun to move in, I gave a cocktail party as a sort of welcome to the homeowners' association. I asked everyone to bring an hors d'oeuvre, which they did, and I served this, a dish from a recipe from my good friend Laurie in California. It's easy to make and very good. Serve it yourself, or take it to a party the next time you're asked to bring something. It'll be a hit either way.

CURRIED CHEESE SPREAD
covers a 10 inch platter
serving 8 to 10 as an hors d'oeuvre

6-oz cream cheese, softened
4-oz Cheddar cheese, shredded (you can buy this is a package at your grocery store)
3 T dry Sherry
3/4 t curry powder
1/2 C chopped mango chutney
tops (green parts only) of some green onions, chopped

1. Blend cheeses, Sherry, curry powder.

2. Spread mixture 1/2 inch thick on an appropriate size platter and chill until cool and slightly hardened, about 1 hour.

3. When ready to serve, spread the top with chutney and sprinkle with the chopped green onions. Serve with sweet cracker like "Escort."
